Not to be outdone by Livie girl, Landon started 3yo Pre-K yesterday. Honestly, the night before was a blur (#secondchildsyndrome). We had just spent 6 hours in the car driving home from NJ so we hustled in the house, hurried to eat dinner, bathed L&L, laid out a new outfit, and settled down to read The Night Before Preschool. Before Shane and I knew it, both kids were sound asleep and I wasn’t far behind.
On the way to his meet and greet, we pulled into a spot and our conversation went a little like this…
- Landon: “Mom, dis ‘livia’s school.”
- Me: “Yes, Olivia went here. Now she’s at the big school. It’s your turn to come here.”
- Landon (with hands in the air and a typical emoji-like expression on his face): “WHAT?! I can’t believe it! You got to be kidding me!”
I held Landon’s hand through the parking lot and we walked to the front door. He grabbed his backpack with confidence and marched up the ramp without a second thought. I showed him where his hook was, with his name tag, and he walked right into his classroom. I had to scream, “I love you! Have a great day!” from the door. I heard a muffled reply from behind a stack of building blocks.
Landon’s personality is like no other. He brings a constant laughter and joy to all those around him. I know he’ll thrive in a school environment, as long as he leaves his pretend swords at home. For the first time in 5 1/2 years, both of my children were in separate locations and under the care of others. I pray constantly for both of them; that they’ll be kind humans, show love to those around them, and never stop smiling.
Good luck this year, Landon Jack. You’re officially in Preschool! Like your sister, I know you’ll do big things and maybe your career choice will change from “Ninja Samurai Power Ranger” to something else eventually.
